Rodrigo Teixeira is today one of the Brazilian audiovisual producers with the greatest participation and recognition in the international market. His CV brings together several productions and co-productions of feature films, in addition to series in Brazil and abroad. In your master class, you will share, from your own experience and trajectory, part of the strategies it applies for the good development and viability of projects.

The making of a film that involves more than one co-producing country generally requires a production design that follows a set of laws and rules provided for in international agreements (bilateral or multilateral) and Brazilian ones that standardize international audiovisual coproduction practices. Often used for financing, cinematographic production and/or post-production, co-production mechanisms must be evaluated and incorporated from the development phase of an audiovisual work, with the condition that there is a real and artistic justifications for this configuration. Taking these points into consideration, the panel will address the legal and practical aspects to be evaluated – between pros and cons – by producers when carrying out a coproduction.

He is a partner at the law firm Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados, and previously worked in business and legal affairs at O2 Filmes. Toscano advises broadcasters, producers, distributors, digital platforms, talents and other agents in the entertainment market. He is a speaker and professor at several events and courses on Entertainment and is vice-president of the Copyright, Intangible Rights and Entertainment Commission of the OAB/RJ.

She is the director and founder of the Audiences of the Future Seminar and the Circo 2.12 Documentation Center.

Jean Thomas Bernardini has been an independent distributor since 1989, when he founded Imovision. He released the first Iranian films in Brazil (The White Balloon and Gabbeh), the Dogma 95 films (Family Party, The Idiots and Italian for Beginners), and other titles, such as the Danish Dancer in the Dark (Palme d’Or at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival), the Chinese film In the Mood for Love, the French film Eight Women and the Finnish film The Man Without a Past. In 2005 he also began investing in exhibition, with the opening of the Reserva Cultural Paulista space. In August 2016, he opened another complex, with five rooms, in Niterói (RJ), and is developing the first video on demand platform dedicated to art films in Brazil.

With a degree in Business Administration and a Masters in International Relations, Lopez-Gomez has worked at the Miami Film Festival since 2007. She is currently the Associate Director of Industry and Programming, responsible for the call for entries and invitations, programming and guest management, as well as industry initiatives such as the Miami Encuentros Post-Production Awards and speaking engagements. With over 10 years of experience, Lopez-Gomez has worked in the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Panama at prestigious events and acclaimed festivals.

A conversation with Altunaga is a lesson in scriptwriting, cinema, life and cultural connections. Your classes they are always crowded, with listeners, with other teachers, immersed in the back and forth of their words. Words furious, irreverent, exact, permanent. This book is a record of a series of conversations we had between 2009 and 2016 in different locations: from his home in Havana, to “El Rapidito” (the emblematic EICTV café), even at home in Santiago de Chile, hotels, cafes and meetings via Skype. So, I captured the Eliseo’s words. Little by little. In fragments. For years. This is not a book about screenwriting, nor is it pretension. It’s a book about a man’s passion for cinema, scriptwriting, films and life. Eliseo Algunaga never took written material or anything prepared for our meetings. Julio Rojas is a screenwriter for films such as “Mi mejor enemigo”, nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film (2006); “En la cama”, Espiga de Oro for Best Film in Valladolid, and nominated for the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film (2007); “La vida de los peces”, Colón de Prata for Best Screenplay in 2010, in Huelva; Goya 2012 for Best Ibero-American Film; and “La memoria del agua” at Venice Days, 2015; among others. He has been a director of fictional content for TV, a professor at several Chilean and foreign universities, and a visiting professor at the International School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba, for over fifteen years. Julio Rojas is also a script consultant, and his analysis has included internationally awarded films. He is currently the fiction development coordinator for “Fábula”. As a writer, he has just published his first novel “El visita extranjero” (Penguin Random House, 2018).

As a teacher and script consultant, Eliseo Altunaga is currently one of the most renowned professionals on the scene international, in addition to holding the position of head of the Chair of Screenwriting at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños – EICTV, and being an adjunct professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte de Havana. In his master class – recommended for both professional and amateur screenwriters – Eliseo will discuss the structure of the script and its relationship with dramatic characters, an important issue fundamental to the process of developing and writing cinematographic scripts.
