Telsi lives with her fisherman husband, Armando. One day Armando heads out to sea and never returns. Facing financial uncertainty, Telsi takes a job on a boat moored at the marina, guarded by a group of women with whom she forms a close bond. When a man’s body is found dead in the estuary, the area is evacuated and the women give her temporary shelter in their home. Telsi notices they leave before dawn and return soaked and in tears. One night, Telsi follows one of the women and watches her slip into the estuary, where she transforms into a half-crocodile creature.
Linterna Films
Linterna Films is a production company founded in San José, Costa Rica, in 2011. It supports film projects and training initiatives with innovative proposals and regional impact. The company has produced features and shorts that have screened at festivals including IDFA, San Sebastián, Locarno, BAFICI, Havana and Clermont-Ferrand.

Director and screenwriter
Alexandra Latishev Salazar graduated from the Véritas Film School and completed the Master’s in Creation at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. Her debut feature Medea (2017) screened at more than 25 festivals, including San Sebastián, Warsaw and BAFICI. Her second feature, Delirio (2024), premiered in Guadalajara and screened in Shanghai and São Paulo. She also produced Objetos Rebeldes (2020).
Producer
Federico Montero is a Costa Rican producer and director and a member of Linterna Films. As a producer, he has developed projects selected for festivals including Locarno, San Sebastián, Poitiers and IDFA. He took part in Locarno Open Doors and 3 Puertos Cine. He is currently producing Los Hombres Morimos Antes, his debut feature as a director.
