Valentina is the youngest daughter of a family of famous artisans from San Blas, an artistic district in the city of Cusco. Despite her grandfather Teo’s fame, her family lives on the edge of bankruptcy, made worse by Valentina’s health and her epilepsy attacks. One day Teo receives an unusual order: the king of Spain asks him for a collection of virgins for the queen’s birthday. Teo needs help, but he can’t find anyone. One morning, Valentina decides to paint one of the virgins. Teo is impressed and accepts his help. Almost ready to finish the work, Valentina suffers an epilepsy attack and this time the doctors warn that she could die if she is not taken to a hospital in Lima. In Lima, Valentina dreams of returning to San Blas.

LA VIDA MISMA FILMS Production company founded in Peru by screenwriter, director and producer Melina León, with the aim of making auteur cinema. In 2019, the producer launched Canción sin Nombre at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight; the film was selected in more than 100 international festivals and received around 35 awards.
LA MULA PRODUCCIONES It was founded in 2009 by producer Rolando Toledo, with the aim of creating multimedia news and making both documentaries and fiction films. Some of its titles are Sigo Siendo (2013), by Javier Corcuera; Canción sin Nombre (2019), by Melina León; and El Canto de las Mariposas (2020), by Nuria Frigola.
