Vera is a 30-year-old evangelical woman who lives in Manaus, Amazonas. She is married to Pastor Sebastião with whom she wants to have a child and establish family peace. Traumatized by her mother’s death in the waters of the Rio Negro, she decides to sell the boat she inherited from her father; however, she is convinced by her husband to go on an evangelizing mission through the interior of the Amazon forest, using the boat, despite her fear of the river. During the trip, Vera meets Kauany, an independent riverside girl, whose strength and determination make her rethink her ideas about marriage and reconnect with her forgotten past, returning to swim in the waters of the Rio Negro, and questioning who her boat and her life really belong to.
