Saywa is a retired archaeological artifact thief; ten years ago, after failing in a robbery, his newborn daughter is kidnapped and his wife is killed. Depressed and alone, he becomes a clothes salesman in the Andes region and, one day, finds a lost girl who asks for his help to return home to Lima. Arriving there, he is arrested, and realizes that it was an ambush prepared by his father, Ruka: the old hierarch of the huacas. He says that the girl who took him there is his daughter, that he managed to get her back on his own and that he won’t give her back if Saywa doesn’t help him steal a mummy near Uyuni. Thus begins Saywa’s journey south to recover his only family, although he fears it is just another of his father’s lies.
