Cuba today. In times of uncertainty, the lives of four characters are tied to a fragile illusion that resists being undone. Marlon, 8 years old, collects newspaper articles and photographs of Fidel Castro on his bedroom wall, but every time it rains, humidity seeps in and ruins his collection. Patria, 76 years old, grew up among the Cuban aristocracy. Even though she tries to uphold the rules of her belle époque, today her mansion has been transformed into a hostel for tourists, and she employs her family to serve guests. Yuri, 18 years old, doesn’t leave his room, where he leads his life as if he were in a reggaetón music video. Nicolás, 29 years old, is a foreign writer who lives on the streets without a visa or money, trying to finish a never-ending work: a documentary that aims to prove that there are houses in Havana that move mysteriously to resist the passage of time, houses in “miraculous static” that the government has closed due to the risk of collapsing, but that remain standing.
