Synopsis
During the feast of the patron saint of a village, a family receives relatives fleeing the violence of the city. The discovery of the past between the village and the foreigners soon gives way to strange things that start to happen: a plague in the tobacco fields that hasn't happened for years; dead bodies found in the middle of the fields; police and drones that invade the village. All of this is mixed in with the prayers, rituals, and invasions of masked men that become picturesque to the eyes of the outsiders.

Like so many other cities in the interior of Brazil, Arapiraca had its movie theaters closed in the 1980s, following the phenomenon of the extinction of neighborhood movie theaters throughout the country. A whole generation of moviegoers was formed by getting to know movies through alternative means such as video stores and the Internet. However, the absence of an exhibition circuit did not prevent the emergence of audiovisual directors in the city, as is the case of Leandro Alves and Wagno Godez, authors of award-winning films in several national festivals. The regionalization policies of the federal government, such as the FSA's Regional Arrangement line, have made it possible for filmmakers who live in cities in the interior to be inserted in the audiovisual production chain. This is how Filmes de Bananola came about, a production company that was born from the will to make films in Arapiraca, speaking of Arapiraca, and that seeks to produce the first fiction feature film made in the hinterland of Alagoas. This production company is contributing with an important part to consolidate this scene. It is co-producing Perpetual Motion, currently in pre-production phase, and producing the telefilm Os Romeiros de Coutinho, both by Leandro Alves, which will be made in Arapiraca, and were approved in public edicts in partnership with Ancine, besides the short film, Guia, by Tarcísio Ferreira, Nós duas by Leandro Alves and Wéllima Kelly and other audiovisual projects in partnership with NAVI - Núcleo do Audiovisual de Arapiraca, and the production company Arte Camaleão, such as the Arapiraca Film Festival and the Estação NAVI, which are audiovisual training courses in the countryside of Alagoas. Filmes de Bananola represents an essential step to represent the agrestino cinema, made in the interior of the Northeast, built from the identity of the local culture. And within this trajectory, creating fictional and fantastic narratives, mixing and exploring the local identity and experiences of our daily lives. Bando has contributed in a powerful way to this construction.
