BrLab Audience Design is the audience design workshop for films in the development stage held since 2017 at BrLab.

The workshop offers participants the experience of exploring the potential of various tools to think about audiences in the film and audiovisual industry as early as the development stage, going beyond the classic marketing and distribution approaches we know.

In 2024, BrLab Audience Design is presented and co-conducted by Projeto Paradiso, and is tailor-made for the projects from the Incubadora Paradiso, a long-running program that supports the development of Brazilian fiction and animation feature film scripts that have excelled in important local laboratories and audiovisual markets. The workshop, therefore, is based on the specificities of each of the selected projects and on a tested and improved methodology that has been adapted over the years.

BrLab Audience Design tutors work through collaborative group dynamics and exercises with the teams representing the projects. The goal is to better understand the tools to create marketing and narrative strategies for specific audiences based on each project’s artistic characteristics – thus building communication, distribution and engagement solutions for different types of audiences and in different stages of the filmmaking process. Throughout the workshop, the participating projects will be accompanied by tutors and companies with notable experience in the national and international market.

The 14th edition of BrLab will take place from October 1st to October 7th, 2024 in São Paulo.
