Formosa Beach

Muanza, a woman from the Kingdom of Congo, was trafficked to Brazil in the mid-19th century. Upon waking up in the present day, Muanza finds herself in a Rio de Janeiro of spiraling times, where figures from the past and present are part of the search for their origins in the city’s territory. In this interweaving of times, the film witnesses the life that emerges from the spaces of Rio, the gestures of resistance in the face of forced deterritorialization and the affections that sustain relationships of sisterhood.
