The second edition of BrLab was held in November of 2012 at the premises of the Centro Cultural b_arco, in the city of São Paulo.
In this edition, BrLab expanded its content and incorporated a greater number of tutors with the aim of covering new territories aimed at the three fundamental areas for the development and solid realization of projects: screenwriting, production, and distribution.
With the academic direction of Prof. Maria Dora Mourão, the direction of Rafael Sampaio, the project’s creator, and co-direction from Francisco Cesar Filho and Jurandir Müller, the event had various supporters and structural collaborators, in addition to co-realization through the incentive of the Audiovisual Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture and financial support from the Programa Ibermedia.
In addition to traditional partnerships with collaborating institutions such as Bolivia Lab, the Central American Cinema Support Fund Cinergia, the French Embassy in Brazil, Cinemateca Brasileira, and Sociedade Amigos da Cinemateca, the distributors FiGa Films, Vitrine Filmes, and the Centro Cultural b_arco were added to BrLab’s support network.
9 projects were selected, representing Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, and Uruguay.
Over a period of six days, representatives of the selected projects had access to consultations on their scripts and productions with internationally renowned film specialists.
The main team of tutors was composed of Cuban consultant and screenwriter Eliseo Altunaga, Chilean film programmer Erick González, consultant and curator Eva Morsch-Kihn, Argentine producer Fernanda del Nido, Argentine filmmaker and producer Juan Villegas, French-Argentine consultant and screenwriter Miguel Machalski, and Italian producer Rosanna Seregni.
