Cinema And The Poetics Of Bodies

9PM

Live broadcast

Argentinian filmmaker, screenwriter and producer Albertina Carri presents some of her current reflections on the poetics of bodies in cinema, at a time when our bodies represent vital potentials. Based on the understanding of cinema as something organic, the director of the award-winning films Las Hijas del Fuego, Los Rubios, La Rabia, among others, draws on concepts of philosophy, psychoanalysis and image analysis to investigate some of the questions that philosophy has been formulating since pre-Socratic times, and psychology since its beginning. What is a body? What can a body do? The responses vary according to the epistemological system used to formulate the response. Albertina proposes an approach to Spinoza’s system, which she will use to think of the possibilities of the body and cinema as tools for manifestation of the sacred based on our purely profane nature.
