In a fantasy world where climate change threatens the island of Subra, the fearless Thereza takes to the sea in a bid to survive. Searching for a crew, the navigator meets the cyborg Hadak, the robotic spider Tilly, and Walla, an amphibious child. Together, they travel across different islands in search of a safe place to live—only to discover there is no perfect refuge. Along the way, through adventures, paradise-like landscapes, magical creatures and a host of villains, they come to understand that the only way forward is finding balance between nature and technological development.
Basilico Filmes
Basilico Filmes is an audiovisual company founded by Julia Vidal in 2019 and based in Curitiba, Paraná. It produced the short film Quarto Vazio (2024), awarded at the 13th Olhar de Cinema, and Sobre Amizade e Bicicletas (2022), a finalist for the 22nd Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro. The company is developing the animated series Intricata and Thereza das Marés.

Director and screenwriter
Julia Vidal is the creator and head writer of the series Manual de Sobrevivência da Literatura Brasileira and a screenwriter for Seasons 1 and 2 of A Caverna de Petra. She wrote and directed the short films Sobre Amizade e Bicicletas and Quarto Vazio. Through her company Basilico Filmes, she is developing the animated series Intricata and Thereza das Marés.
Director and screenwriter
Isabele Orengo has written Thereza das Marés, which has been picked by BrLab Kids, FRAPA and Curitiba_Lab. She wrote and directed the short Pavão sem Cores and co-wrote the short Plutão. As a producer with Gesto de Cinema, she has received 20 awards and three nominations at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro. Her interests include adventure sports, sustainability and technology.

Alessandro Yamada is an architect and filmmaker. He directed the short film Feche os Olhos Para Me Ver (2025). The previous year, he released the series Vinde Vênus, broadcast on TV Brasil and other public channels. He took part in Buenos Aires Talents in 2012 and worked on the crews of Estômago (2008), Mundo Cão (2016) and A Arte do Roubo (in post-production).
