Based in Salvador since 2018, Tesoura Filmes develops independent, author-driven audiovisual projects, focused on diversity and expanding representation. The company produced the feature Arroz de Hauçá (2024) and is currently developing other projects, including Santo de Casa, by Camila Ribeiro, and A Gente Ainda Não Morreu, by Vitória Fallavena.

Screenwriter of “Arroz de Hauçá”, a project awarded at the Cabíria Festival and selected by several laboratories, such as Nordestelab and Sesc Novas histórias. Director and screenwriter of the shorts “Sobre Elise” and the animation “Jussara”. She has worked as an art producer for 13 years, in more than 30 productions. She is currently studying for a master’s degree at Póscultura/UFBA and researches the construction of the subjectivity of black women in national cinema.

Paula Alves is from the Federal District, studied film in Rio de Janeiro and now lives in Salvador, where she created the production company Tesoura Filmes. She is the executive producer of the Bahian documentary series Todos os Sonhos, by Sofia Frederico. She was the production director of the film Derrapada, by Pedro Amorim, the documentary O Processo, by Maria Augusta Ramos and the film Cinco da Tarde by Eduardo Nunes.
