Founded on May 7, 1963, L.C. Barreto Produções Cinematográficas has such a rich trajectory that it even gets a little confused with the history of cinema in Brazil and Latin America. There have been more than 80 short and feature film productions and co-productions in its 55 years of existence. Consecrated in Brazil and abroad, in its cinematic trajectory is one of the most successful adaptations by writer Jorge Amado and one of the key films in the modern history of Brazilian cinema that for 34 years, with 10.735 million spectators, was the biggest box office success in Brazilian cinema – the work Dona Flor e Seu Dois Maridos (1976), by Bruno Barreto. The film is the biggest cultural reference of our cinema in the world and was shown commercially in more than 80 countries. In addition to two productions nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film: O Quatrilho (1996), by Fábio Barreto, and O Que é Isso Companheiro (1998), by Bruno Barreto.
