A Grande Dívida
A GRANDE DÍVIDA is a documentary feature film development project, included in the Public Notice for the Development of Audiovisual Works Projects – 200 years of Brazilian Independence. With it we seek to make a critical analysis of Brazil’s independence process, which had a concrete price: the payment of the Portuguese Crown’s debt to England. And the documentary’s narrative will treat this episode as the precursor in our history of consolidating public debt as a cruel system of corruption, which eternally keeps the country in the status of an underdeveloped colony.
Our protagonist is Prof. Maria Lucia Fattorelli, retired tax auditor from the Federal Revenue Service and founder of the organization Audit Cidadã da Dívida. Through his tireless work, he was a key player in the audits of public debts in Greece and Ecuador. In Brazil, it is experiencing all the difficulties of massively exposing and unraveling this perverse and structuring corruption scheme. In her garden, which is her hobby, Maria Lúcia trains daily two great skills she needs to face a mission of this magnitude: patience and persistence.
