2. Applications will only be accepted in digital format through the application form.
3. Applications are completely free of charge.
4. A maximum of three (3) feature films will be selected to participate in the 2024 edition of BrLab Rough Cut. The films selected may be documentaries ou fiction feature films.
5. Each participating film must be represented by one director and one editor from the editing team.
6. Each film’s representatives must be available to attend the 2024 BrLab Rough Cut in person, which will be held from October 1 to 7, 2024, in São Paulo – SP. The presence of director and one editor is mandatory.
7. The selection will be communicated via email, and the full list will be published in August on the BrLab website and social media.
8. During BrLab Rough Cut, the representatives of the selected films will receive mentorship in the editing and post-production of their films with their tutors over the course of four days.
9. To apply, films must submit the following in the application form:
- Title;
- Country, state, and city of origin;
- Current film duration;
- Intended/estimated duration;
- Long synopsis;
- Logline;
- Motivation letter;
- Representative information;
- Most recent cut of the film;
- A clip of up to 20 minutes of the most recent cut of the film; and
- Information on the software used in editing.
10. The most recent cut of the film and the selected clip of up to 20 minutes must be submitted via a link to a streaming server, protected by a password and watermarked. This material will be used in the selection process, and during the lab, additional materials from the selected projects may be requested.
11. The films will be evaluated by a selection committee, and their decisions are final. Unfortunately, BrLab does not have the capacity to provide feedback or reports on non-selected projects.
12. Upon application, the film’s production agrees to include a mention of participation in the lab and the BrLab Rough Cut logo in the film credits.
13. Before the selection announcement, a contract will be signed between the production representatives and the BrLab organization, ensuring compliance with the items in the previous clauses, as well as a confidentiality agreement to ensure the secure and productive sharing of relevant information.
14. The film’s production commits to meeting the deadlines set by the lab team for submitting materials, documents, and information necessary for the event.
15. Through scholarships offered by the Ibermedia Program, in addition to free activities, BrLab will cover the cost of one (1) round-trip airfare per selected film and the accommodation costs for the two (2) representatives of each project who do not reside in São Paulo – SP for the first stage of BrLab Rough Cut. Participants will be housed in double apartments and must necessarily arrange or cover the airfare for the second film representative.
