Synopsis

Alí is a young university student who fled the repression in Iran and now finds himself in Veracruz. He arrived by hiding on a cargo ship in a port in Greece and traveling clandestinely. In order to survive and make money, Alí works odd jobs with migrant day laborers. Although he is not yet sure where he will go next, Alí is just trying to cope with the distance he has forged with his country and with his loved-ones, while living his new-found freedom, which was gravely threatened in his last days in Iran. While at work, Alí becomes friends with Guillermo, a migrant who fled gang violence in El Salvador and who hopes to make it to the U.S. As he explores his freedom and sexuality in the vibrant yet decadent city of Veracruz, Alí’s need for companionship becomes more and more present.
