Synopsis

During the Paraguayan dictatorship, Carmen, a woman whose family belongs to the regime's party, discovers that girls were abused in a neighboring house, owned by a senior government official. The terror of a previously unknown reality haunts her. Carmen then embarks on a lonely journey, as her surroundings insist that she be silent. However, what she witnessed affects her to such a degree that she can no longer reconnect with the calm of her daily life - even in trivial situations, she relives the witnessed scene. Finally, Carmen decides to report the crime and ends up in prison, discovering the other side of the dictatorial regime.

Sapukai Cine & Sabate Films

SAPUKAI CINE Based in Paraguay, the film production company produced the short films Ahendu nde sapukai (2008) and Noche adentro (2010). It also produced the feature film La última tierra (2016) and co-produced with Brazil the medium-length film Permanências (2011). These works were screened at numerous international festivals, where they received various awards.

SABATE FILMS Independent film production company based in Asunción, founded in 2009 with the goal of contributing to the development of the Paraguayan film industry. It develops, produces and co-produces content of high artistic quality and international projection.
