Dann has just graduated in pedagogy and returns to his parents' home, where he has to live with the truculence of his father, who has never accepted his process of gender transition. During the graduation ceremony, Dann symbolically kills his father, which causes a schism that seems definitive between the two. Determined to earn money to get on with his life, Dann agrees to teach a class of youngsters on probation, considered by many to be a problem class, in a precarious public school. Dann's journey, dealing with the reflection of his own image projected onto this group of young blacks neglected by society, will lead him to the challenge of understanding his role as man, teacher and son in order to make a difference to others and to himself.
