It's christmas time in Guatemala City. Claudia is a young woman distant from her family's revolutionary ideals, who is fascinated by motorcycles and helmets and in love with her best friend, Maria, who is apparently unattainable. Claudia walks around with Victor, and expert in self-defense and guns. These three characters walk around within an urban, post war city, full of contrasts, racism and constant fear of violence. Claudia is not loved back and this love/unlove, together with the violent surroundings, leads her to announce to her family her decision to emmigrate to the United States. This causes an upheaval with different members of her family. The atmosphere is filled with firecrackers and gunpowder smoke. People drink, eat tamales and shoot their guns in the air.
