Synopsis
The Ivy depicts the reunion of two characters separated by a brutal occurrence. A mother and son who appear to be almost the same age. The Oedipus complex, maternity ranging from the instinctive to the impossible. The universe of orphanages in Ecuador and the “aging out” of those who are never adopted, these are the themes explored in The Ivy, as well as Azucena’s wounded sexuality, hypnosis, the ravages of her disease, and encounters with many different bodies: her grandfather, her son, the men at the club, and with herself and her own elasticity.
