Geraldine Chaplin was born in 1944. British actress and eldest daughter of Charles Chaplin and Oona O’Neill, she was eight years old when her family moved from the United States to Switzerland. She was first seen on the screen when her father included her in the film Limelight. Her first credited role was in Crime on a summer morning, by Jacques Deray, and she was boosted to fame in 1965 with Doctor Zhivago, by David Lean. Chaplin developed an important collaboration with Spanish director Carlos Saura. She has acted in more than 140 films and TV productions.
