Andrés Wood graduated in Economy from Universidad Católica de Chile, and later went to New York to study Film at NYU. He directed the feature films Historias de fútbol, La fiebre del loco, Machuca, one of the most watched and awarded films in chilean cinema history, and La buena vida, which received the Goya award for Best Foreign Hispanic American Film. His latest feature as a director is Violeta se fue a los cielos, a Chile-Brazil-Argentina co-production. His work has been presented at the most important film festivals in the world, such as Cannes, Venezia, San Sebastián, Toronto and Sundance.
