The Audience Design Workshop promoted by BrLab in partnership with Projeto Paradiso is an initiative aimed exclusively at the five feature films selected for the 2020 Paradiso Incubator. The goal of the workshop is to build audience engagement and distribution strategies, with a focus on understanding, intelligence and audience design, for the selected films. Projeto Paradiso supports works that connect with their audiences, and thus seeks, through various initiatives, including this workshop, to stimulate the search for connection between the films and their audiences.

Between September and November, three tutors are assigned to work in the projects’ development process. Argentine Fernanda Del Nido, CEO of Setembro Cine and co-producer of Uma Mulher Fantástica, is responsible for the first stage of mentoring, alongside Rafael Sampaio, general director of BrLab, producer and founding partner of Klaxon Cultura Audiovisual. Subsequently, Sarah Calderón, director of The Film Agency, a specialized marketing consulting firm based in Madrid, will offer lectures and rounds of group work to refine innovative audience engagement strategies.

This year, the tutors of the Audience Design Workshop will work with the following projects: Feito Pipa, written by André Araújo and directed by Allan Deberton; Não Estamos Sonhando, written and directed by Ulisses Arthur; O Campo dos Lobos Guarás, written by Barbara Cunha and directed by Paulo Caldas; Tempestade Ninja, written and directed by Higor Gomes; and Travessia, written and directed by Natália Sellani.

The Paradiso Incubator is a program that supports the development of Brazilian feature films, helping films to be born great. In addition to this workshop, the program offers grants to the selected projects’ screenwriters, consulting sessions to the producers, mentoring by Brazilian and foreign professionals and the insertion of the projects in major international events.
