3 Puertos Cine is a work platform that tackles the qualitative aspects of Latin American feature films, jointly organized by AUSTRALAB from Chile, CIRCO 2.12 from Mexico, and BrLab from Brazil. It offers two workshops: 3 Puertos Desenvolvimento, created in 2014 and focused on projects under development; and 3 Puertos Montagem, launched in 2018, for films in post-production.

3 Puertos Desenvolvimento has a section in Chile, during the AUSTRALAB, and another in Mexico, during CIRCO 2.12. The projects selected each year participate in the two sections, which take place a few months apart. This is not a screenwriting workshop, but an interdisciplinary work, which addresses several aspects of the film: aesthetic, thematic and contextual, in addition to narrative aspects.

3 Puertos Montagem is a workshop dedicated to the post-production stage, held in São Paulo during the BrLab, for projects that have previously participated in 3 Puertos Desenvolvimento, or BrLab in their development stage.

The platform, through both workshops, is focused on personalized work, with no thematic modules or standardized program, meeting the specific needs of each project or film. The full circuit is carried out with Ibermedia’s support.

3 Puertos Cine Montagem – BrLab is supported by internationally recognized tutors and works each year with 3 or 4 films in the post- production stage, with the participation of the film director and editor. Each pair of participants is assigned a personalized tutor throughout the workshop and is able to exchange ideas with the other directors and editors, enriching the thinking process in this final stage of the film.

BrLab is the ideal context for this workshop, because in addition to the work around the editing, the participants are inserted in a context in which they can promote meetings with other professionals in the audiovisual industry at the moment when their international premieres are approaching.

How to dimension a film’s cinematography based on the script, according to plural points of view

18h

Live broadcast

Contemporary cinema has been proposing increasingly diverse production formats. These new work proposals result from close dialogues within the teams of each film. The direction of photography is a fundamental part of this invention, assuming the role of a structuring dialogue between the needs of the direction and production. This panel will debate, from the different perspectives of members of the collective DAFB who work on different cinematography fronts in the audiovisual industry, the creative and technical reading of a script as a project planning tool for decision making, even before pre-production. Together, they will talk about how to anticipate, based on the project, the specific needs of each film with regard to the formation of camera, electrical and grip crews, in addition to foreseeing, for each department, the types of equipment that may be favorable, disposable or essential, including on after-set stages, until post production.
