Mercedes Gaviria Jaramillo was born in Medellin, Colombia, in 1992. She is a sound designer and film director. In 2016 she became a Film Direction professor at the Universidad del Cine. Her short film, Silencio antes, was screened at FICCI and BAFICI 2016. At BAFICI 2018 she received the ASA Best Sound award with Las hijas del fuego, directed by Albertina Carri. In 2018 she pursued a postgraduate degree in Film at Universidad Torcuato di Tella. She is currently finishing her first feature film, Como el cielo después de llover.
