Synopsis

Um pinguim tupiniquim is an animation that mixes stop-motion animals and live-action actors to tell the story of Orozimbo, a neurotic bird who runs away from an arranged marriage in his South Pole colony and ends up at a crazy artist’s ranch in Brazil. Once there, he falls in love with Olga, a feminist guinea fowl who refuses to be just another egg-layer.

Coala Filmes

is a stop-motion production company that mixes art and original content. Founded in 2000, it has produced several short films that won 100+ awards in film festivals around the world. Two of its short films, Rê Bordosa dossier and Storm, were screened at important Brazilian and international film festivals, including Annecy, Sundance, You Tube Fest, Havana and Hiroshima. The series "Angeli the killer" (13 episodes of 11 minutes) is based on the works of Angeli, one of Brazil’s most famous cartoonists. The series was selected for the 2018 Annecy Film Festival TV Competition, and a deal to make a second season is already in place.
