Synopsis

Lilian is the mother of Dandara, an 11-year-old child. They come from a mixed African, European and Indigenous family. Together they embark on a journey to the interior of the country in search of a common ancestor: the indigenous great-great-grandmother who was raped and stolen from her village. The search of Lilian and Dandara is not an individual one, but a collective story of the mestizaje in Brazil: a miscegenation made from violence and affection and sustained womb to womb carefully by women caught in a snare.
