Synopsis

At 39, Duda has finally found a place to call her own. Her new home is on a paradise beach, where quilombola roots connect with cosmic healing energies: the 14th Parallel. To be able to live there, however, she will have to deal with typically Brazilian social and racial issues.

Muiraquitã Filmes is a Brazilian production company based in São Paulo that, since 2020, also operates in Portugal. Founded by producer Eliane Ferreira, it is dedicated to the production of films, documentaries and series, with unique and authentic perspectives, in collaboration with talented filmmakers and partners around the world. She has distinguished herself as the producer of award-winning documentaries such as "Cine Marrocos" by Ricardo Calil, "Fico te devendo uma Carta sobre o Brasil" by Carol Benjamin, "Os Arrependidos" by Armando Antenore and Ricardo Calil, and more recently "Eneida" by Heloisa Passos. His films have been selected for major international festivals such as Berlinale, IDFA, Dok Leipzig, Jeonju (Korea), among others. He has released the fiction feature "Mar de Dentro", selected for the 2020 São Paulo International Film Festival, and is working towards releasing two other features in 2022: "Sol" by Lô Politi, and "Bala em nome" by Felipe Cagno, co-produced by Star. In post-production there is the documentary co-produced with Kenya: "Testament" by Meena Nanji and Zippy Kimundu, selected for IDFA Forum 2020 and supported by several international funds, and the film "Duas Irmãs" by Ana Flavia Cavalcanti and Fellipe Barbosa. Among the next projects to be produced, we can highlight: the documentary "Sobre Memória e Esquecimento" by Ricardo Martensen, winner of development funds from the Sundance Documentary Fund and the IDFA Bertha Foundation, and the film "Cyclone" by Flavia Castro.
