Panelists

  • Agustina Chiarino

    Agustina Chiarino is the coordinator of the Project Development Committee on Uruguay’s Channel 10 and a university professor. She also works internationally, teaching workshops, providing tutoring and advisory services, and as a jury member in funds and festivals. In 2007, she joined Control Z Films and produced the feature films Gigante (directed by Adrián Biniez), Tanta Água (directed by Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge), Hiroshima and 3 (both directed by Pablo Stoll). In 2011, she founded Mutante Cine alonside Fernando Epstein. They produced Biniez’s El 5 de Talleres and co-produced Naishtat’s Historia del Miedo and Ana Katz’s Mi Amiga del Parque. She also organizes training workshops, such as Puentes, in partnership with EAVE.

  • Ana Alice de Moraes

    Ana Alice Morais studied Cinema at the Universidade Federal Fluminense and at the École Supérieure d’Audiovisuel de Toulouse. Since 2003, she has produced several films, film festivals and educational projects. In 2008 she founded 3 Moinhos, a production company focused on the authorial market, whose works have already received more than 70 awards at festivals in Brazil and abroad. She participated in the Rotterdam Lab (2012) and in the Binger Film Lab (2014). Her most recent feature film, Antes o Tempo Não Acabava, was selected to the BrLab in 2012, was produced with the support of Ibermedia and World Cinema funds and premiered at Berlinale’s Panorama section.

  • Ana Julia Cury de Brito Cabral

    Ana Julia Cury de Brito Cabral works as international advisor at Brazil’s National Film Agency, which she joined in 2010. Graduated in Social Communication at Escola de Comunicação, UFRJ, with a specialization in Radio and TV, she also holds Masters and PhD degrees in Communication and Culture from that same same institution. In her PhD thesis, she developed comparative research on public policy and the Brazilian and Argentinean film markets in the 1990s.

  • Ana Leticia Fialho

    Ana Leticia Fialho has a PhD in Art and Language Sciences from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), in Paris, and a Law degree from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Since 2015, she has worked as executive manager of Programa Cinema do Brasil, a position she also held between 2007 and 2010. With over fifteen years of professional experience in teaching, research and cultural management, she has worked at organizations such as Associação Brasileira de Arte Contemporânea (ABACT), Fórum Permanente, Fundação Iberê Camargo, Bienal do Mercosul, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Ministério da Cultura, among others.

  • Carolina Kazumi

    Carolina Kazumi has a Law degree from Faculdade de Direito de São Bernardo do Campo and a graduate degree in Audiovisual Project and Business from Senac, Carolina Kazumi has worked in the entertainment sector since 2007. She has also worked as manager of projects sponsored by large companies such as Vale S/A, Natura (Musical Natura), BG Brasil, EDP and Instituto Claro. She currently works as a lawyer focused on the audiovisual sector at law firm Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados, and teaches as visiting professor at schools such as Academia Internacional de Cinema, PUC/ SP and Cultura & Mercado.

  • Diana Almeida

    Diana Almeida is a Brazilian- Mozambican producer who lives and works in São Paulo. She was born in Maputo in 1983 and graduated from Escola de Comunicação e Arte da Universidade de São Paulo. In 2014 Diana released her first feature film, Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho, co-directed by Daniel Ribeiro. The film premiered at the Berlinale, receiving the FIPRESCI and the Teddy awards. It was screened at more than 90 festivals, receiving 44 awards, and selected as Brazil’s official entry for the 2015 Academy Awards. She is currently working on Fabio Meira’s As Duas Irenes .

  • Eliseo Altunaga

    Scriptwriter, narrator and consultant. Dean of the Script Department at EICTV and scriptwriting professor at Universidade de la Havana (Cuba). He wrote several feature films, series and novels. Among his works, Violeta se Fue a los Cielos – awarded in Huelva and Sundance -, Machuca, Tony Manero and No – nominated as Best Foreign Film for the Oscars – stand out.

  • Eloisa Gomez Lopez

    Eloisa Lopez-Gómez has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in International Relations. Lopez-Gomez has worked at the Miami Film Festival since 2007 and is currently the associate director of Industry and Programming, responsible for calls, film invitations, programming and guest management, in addition to industry initiatives such as post-production award Miami Encuentros and panels. With over 10 years of experience, Lopez-Gomez has worked in the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, UAE and Panama at several prestigious events.

  • Fabienne Morris

    Fabienne Morris studied Finance and Law in Paris, and moved to Brussels where she worked as freelance production manager. She joined FIDMarseille in 2003 as program coordinator. In 2009, she set up the FIDLab, the festival’s platform for international coproduction, which she is now codirecting with Rebecca De Pas. She is regularly invited to collaborate at festivals and coproduction markets. She is a member of the selection committee of Doc Station projects for the Berlinale Talents and also participates as advisor in a regional film fund in France.

  • Gerardo Michelin

    Gerardo Michelin has a degree in Communications and he began his professional career as a producer in several TV shows in his native country, Uruguay. In 1998 he moved to Madrid. In Spain, among other works he was nominated the international press chief at Cartoon Forum and Cartoon Movie, both events promoted by the European Animation Producers Association (Cartoon), aimed at fostering animation and coproduction of European animation series and feature films. In 2007 he created LatAm Cinema, a websitef or professionals specialized in Latin American cinema andone of the main sources of information in the sector, where is currently the director.

  • Gilberto Toscano

    Gilberto Toscano has a law degree from Universidade de São Paulo and a graduate degree in Entertainment Law from Escola Superior de Direito da OAB/SP, Gilberto Toscano is a partner at law firm Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados, where he worked as head of the audiovisual department. Before that, he worked at the legal and business department at O2Filmes. Toscano provides advisory to programmers, broadcasters, producers, distributors, digital platforms and other entertainment market agents. He also collaborates as panelist and mediator at several events,teaches courses in his area and is the vice-president of OAB/RJ’s Intellectual Property Rights and Entertainment Commission.

  • Jean Thomas Bernardini

    Jean Thomas Bernardini has worked as an independent distributor since 1989, when he founded Imovision. He released the first Iranian films in Brazil (The White Balloon and Gabbeh), the Dogme 95 films (Festen, The Idiots and Italian for Beginners), and other titles such as the Danish Dancing in the Dark (Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes in 2000), the Chinese In the Mood for Love, the French 8 Femmes and the Finnish The Man Without a Past. In 2005, he entered the film exhibition sector, launching movie theatre Reserva Cultural Paulista. In August 2016, he launched another 5-room movie theatre in Niterói (RJ) and is currently developing the first video on-demand platform dedicated to art films in Brazil.

  • Olga Lamontanara

    After studies in cultural management at Bocconi University, Milan, she started her career in the Planning &Development Dept. of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), NewYork (USA). Among others,from 2006-2009 she was Head of Special Projects at Scuola Holden in Turin, and in 2011 she co-founded the Bari Queer Festival. In 2008 she joined the newly created TorinoFilmLab, and since 2013 she is the lab’s Head of Communication. Olga is based in Zurich (Switzerland), where she collaborates with emerging filmmakers & producers on training initiatives and film promotion.

  • Paula Astorga

    Paula Astorga graduated from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, with a specialization in Direction and Production (1999). She has directed commercials and video clips for many years, and is now working as audiovisual promoter and producer. She founded and directed the Festival Internacional de Cine Contemporáneo de la Ciudad de México – FICCO (2004 -2008). From 2010 to 2013, she worked as director of the Cineteca Nacional de México. She has been a member of several international juries including BAFICI, Miami International Film Festival, RMFF, FICUNAM, FIC Valdivia, Festival de Cannes’ Quinzaine des Réalisateurs for the Label Europa Cinemas award, and recently Festival de Mar del Plata.

  • Paula Cosenza

    Paula Cosenza graduated in Film and Media Studies at the University of the Arts London and is a member of EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs). She has worked at Bossa Nova Films since 2006, and has produced content for various partners such as BBC, SBS Australia, Channel 4, GNT, Rede Globo, Globo Filmes, Warner Bros, HBO, among others. She produced several features films, including Luiz Villaça’s De Onde Eu Te Vejo, Chico Teixeira’s Ausência, premiered at the Berlinale and awarded at Toulouse, FestinLisboa, Gramado and Festival do Rio, Andrés Wood’s Violeta se Fue a los Cielos, best film at the Sundance Film Festival (2012), and Marcelo Machado’s Tropicália, premiered at Telluride.

  • Paula Gastaud

    Paula Gastaud has been involved in the film industry since 2001, first working and developing film projects and TV content as an executive producer in Brazil. Since 2009 her focus has been the international market, developing business opportunities for Brazilian filmmakers in Europe and Latin America. In Sofa Digital since the company’s creation, she manages the licensing of independent content for distribution in VOD platforms in Latin America.
  • Paulo de Carvalho

    Producer and Programmer. Artistic Director of Festival CINELATINO in Germany. He has worked with Latin American films at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, DokLeipzig and the Locarno Festival. Through the production company Autentika Films (Berlin), he has worked in several co-productions with Latin American countries. In 2018: Maria Augusta Ramos’s O Processo (Brasil) and Santiago Loza’s Breve Historia del Planeta Verde (Argentina). He also participates in the creative group of the production company Filmes de Abril (São Paulo). Since 2010, he has participated in the organization of Brasil CineMundi, in Belo Horizonte.

     

  • Rodrigo Chacon

    Rodrigo Chacon has a Law degree from PUC-SP and a graduate degree in Entertainment Law from Escola Superior de Direito da OAB/SP, Rodrigo Chacon works at the law firm Cesnik, Quintino & Salinas Advogados, where he provides advisory to various agents of the Brazilian audiovisual industry including producers, broadcasters, distributors and Brazilian and international programmers. Rodrigo Chacon has also taught classes on audiovisual tax incentives as visiting professor at Academia Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo’s executive production courses.

  • Sandro Fiorin

    Sandro Fiorin founded FiGa Films in Los Angeles on January 2006, with Cuban-American partner Alex Garcia, to discover and distribute Latin American content in North America, as well as represent it worldwide. Raised in Rio de Janeiro, he went to film school at FAAP in São Paulo and the New School in New York, where he lived and worked for 14 years before relocating to California in 2001. Positions at the Film Forum, Universal and First Look Films are part of his 18-year career in the industry. Fiorin has been invited to be a jury member and conduct panel discussions on the state of alternative distribution in Sundance, Rotterdam, Istanbul, Cannes, Toronto, San Sebastian and the United Nations in Geneva.

  • Sara Silveira

    Sara Silveira founded Dezenove Som e Imagens in 1991 alongside filmmaker Carlos Reichenbach, and has since then run the production company in partnership with Maria Ionescu. Her productions include the award-winning feature films Alma Corsária, Bicho de Sete Cabeças, Durval Discos and Cinema Aspirinas e Urubus, which won the National Educational Prize at Cannes in 2005 and the Un Certain Regard award, and was also the Brazilian Official Entry for Best Foreign Language Film in the 2007 Academy Awards. She recently participated as a member of the jury at the 67th Festival de Locarno’s Carte Blanche selection, and also as president of the jury at the 62nd Festival de San Sebastián’s Horizontes Latinos session.

  • Tatiana Leite

    Tatiana Leite studied Art History at Université Paris-Sorbonne and has a graduate degree in Film from UNESA, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Law and Communication at PUC-RJ. She worked as international coordinator at Festival do Rio and curated the film exhibitions No Crepúsculo de Winnipeg: o Cinema de Guy Maddin at CCBB in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in 2011, Faça Você Mesmo – O novo Cinema da Malásia, at Caixa Cultural in Rio de Janeiro and Cine SESC in São Paulo, and Emoção e Poesia: o Cinema de Yasujiro Ozu at CCBB. She worked as coordinator of the Rio Film Commission and international advisor to the State of Rio de Janeiro’s Cultural Office.
